The series of right-wing extremist murders committed by the so-called NSU has a (pre)history. It began in Jena in the late 1980s and depicts the radicalisation of the trio Zschäpe, Mundlos and Böhnhardt as well as the reactions of urban society and the authorities to this development. Journalist Frank Döbert reconstructs the Jena traces on the basis of newspaper reports, documents and photographs. The exhibition, which is being organised in the context of the theme year No closure! Jena and the NSU in 2021, has now been expanded.

Die rechtsradikale Mordserie, wie sie der sogenannte NSU beging, hat eine (Vor-)Geschichte. Sie begann im Jena der späten 1980er Jahre und bildet die Radikalisierung des Trios Zschäpe, Mundlos und Böhnhardt sowie die Reaktionen von Stadtgesellschaft und Behörden auf diese Entwicklung ab. Die Jenaer Spuren rekonstruiert der Journalist Frank Döbert anhand von Zeitungsberichten, Dokumenten und Fotografien. Die Ausstellung, die im Kontext des Themenjahres »Kein Schlussstrich! Jena und der NSU« 2021 entstand, wurde nun ergänzt.
